Wer steckt hinter Mami rocks?

 Verena Wagner

Vere Mami rocks

Was ich sonst so mache

Maia Profile

Maia Mami rocks

Did you ever dream of leaving your 9 to 5 job, moving to and idyllic Alpine town, and having time to explore the things you love to do? Sounds like retirement, right? Well, I am in my mid-30s and I am living the dream. I am Maia – born in Russia, USA is my passport country, and Austria is my country of choice at the moment.

A few years ago, I decided to escape from my secure job in Chicago and explore the world outside the United States.  I struck a deal with my employer for a flexible work from home schedule and chose a small village in Tyrol as my new home. Last year I moved to the capital of Tyrol Innsbruck and love it!

Welcome to the Twins Club

I am also a happy mother of a beautiful five-year old daughter, who was three years old when we moved. During our two years in Tyrol my daughter mastered German, Tyrolean dialect, and skiing. I wish German could be so easy for me! My skiing improved too but I still can’t beat the Austrians.

In January 2016 I gave birth to the twin girls. The girls were born two month earlier but are healthy and happy kids. But now I have my hands full with 3 kids!

My passions

The peace and tranquility of the Alpine scenery inspired me to explore outdoors beyond anything I could ever imagine. Skiing, hiking, biking, yoga, running, swimming, tennis, and ascending mountains are among many of the activities that I enjoy in Austria.  Travel is my passion and our location in the center of Europe is perfect to explore the surroundings. Writing this blog with Verena, while doing some economic forecasting and raising three kids in between, is my new challenge. I am excited to share all my European endeavors and life journey with the twins with you and look forward to your feedback.
